The People Building Tomorrow’s World Already Made Their Call.

I don’t usually write posts like this, but this one is personal.I’ve known and been a close friend of Idrees Butt since 2001, and if there’s one thing that has remained constant over the years, it’s his passion for whatever he takes on. But what I’ve seen from him recently, while working on his new initiative, is on a different level.Over the past few months, I’ve had a few sittings with him where he walked me through what he’s building at TWF School. The amount of thought, intent, and genuine concern for how kids should be prepared for the future really stood out. This isn’t just another academic program, it’s something he deeply believes in.I’ve also been hearing very positive feedback from parents around me whose kids are already part of the program, which honestly didn’t surprise me.Personally, I strongly feel that education is going through a major shift. The future won’t reward rote learning, degrees, or scoring high with “shortcuts.” What will matter is how well our kids can think, solve problems, communicate, and adapt (the reason I had already shifted my 2 younger kids from IGCSE to IB system).That’s exactly the space this program is trying to address.If you have kids in Grade 4-5, it’s definitely worth taking a look: link in commentsBest wishes my friend!

The basic idea behind this is very simple.Don't steal the creativity and uniqueness of a child. Instead, embrace it, polish it. ​In recent dialogue with Idrees Butt, I saw an alignment between his initiative, The Way Forward, and the core tenets of IB philosophy—specifically the focus on inquiry-led, critical thinking that is often sacrificed in traditional, rote-heavy systems.​In the Pakistani educational landscape, the Middle Years (Grades 4–5) represent a neglected transition. Positioned just above the foundational stage but below result-oriented secondary schooling.​The Way Forward functions as a much-needed structural intervention, reclaiming these underused years to cultivate the analytical rigor and entrepreneurship necessary for the modern era.​It is rare to see such a unique, evidence-based concept tailored for our region. The intellectual traction this project is gaining is a promising signal that we are finally addressing the "need of the hour" for our students.​Thoughtful work, Idrees Butt. This is a vital step toward rethinking the K–12 journey. I am looking forward to its roll out and impact.

Had an interesting conversation with Idrees Butt about what they are trying to achieve with TWF. His passion to align 'education' with its true goals and thoughts on how young learners need to be nurtured to become well-rounded and thoughtful individuals, resonated deeply. I wish TWF and its team all the best, it's a well-meaning and much needed initiative.

As an educator, I have felt the pain of our education system being systematically abused by the very people who were supposed to protect it. I believe that people who genuinely care about the future of their children should be supported in any way possible.
